Lucy believes that  everyone is a change-maker and social justice can be achieved by providing the resources and in helping create their own opportunities for sustainable development. Lucy is the Executive Director of Asociacion Salvadorena Pro-Salud Rural (ASAPROSAR.) ASAPROSAR’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the neediest families of El Salvador through integration and linking of programs to meet the fundamental needs of sanitation, environment, education, culture, economics and health. Priority is given to children, youth and women of the rural areas and marginalized urban settings.

Prior to ASAPROSAR, Lucy began her career in women’s empowerment and community development in 1999 with the Gender Program World Conservation Union, surveying women leaders in local NGOs. In 2000, Lucy joined ASAPROSAR as Coordinator for the International Assistance Program, which empowered the poor through healthcare, youth leadership training, education, micro-credit, and development. Lucy then worked for Ashoka from 2010 to 2015. She started her role as a youth program director and became the regional director for El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, where she was Responsible for promoting social entrepreneurship in the region through several programs.

In addition to her current role in ASAPROSAR, Lucy is a member of the Network for the Defense of the rights of children and adolescents in El Salvador, as well as the Latin American Network for the rights of children and adolescents. She is also a board member for Institute for the development of children and adolescents of El Salvador. She mentors the next generation of young entrepreneurs through programs like FUNDE, CORDES, REDES, and SACDEL. Lucy has as BA in Sociology from University José Simeón Cañas (UCA) and Masters in Public health from University of El Salvador.  

Lucy was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador and calls it her home.
